Overlooking the Bua River, Tongole is the only luxury lodge in the 1800 km² Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve and offers the idyllic setting from which to explore it. Guests enjoy freedom to choose how they spend their days; from nature walks, canoeing, birding safaris, community visits and fishing to relaxing on one of the many decks or beside the pool. Tongole was built for the benefit of the local communities and won ‘Best in Africa’ in the Community and Ecological categories in 2018 Safari Awards.

Tongole was motivated by personal tragedy with the aim of benefitting many, it is an evolving story in a particularly disadvantaged area of Malawi.
Guests appreciate the unrivalled tranquillity of this vast reserve at a relaxed pace, as part of our ‘slow safari’ experience, with the unique bonus that they will not meet guests from another lodge whilst enjoying it.
African Parks recently completed one of the largest translocations of elephants; almost 500 more introduced to their new home here.
